Ant and Dec send ‘thoughts and prayers’ to Ukraine on Saturday Night Takeaway

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly took a moment to send their love to Ukraine during tonight’s Saturday Night Takeaway, Saturday 26 February.

Earlier this week, Russia invaded the Eastern European country, shocking people across the globe.

The tragic events have been dominating the news ever since something which was noted during a quiz segment focused on the news on this evening’s programme.

Each week on Saturday Night Takeaway, a contestant is asked questions about what’s been covered in the news in previous days for a chance to win a prize but, due to the nature of the harrowing reports about the Ukraine, Ant and Dec informed the audience and viewers that there wouldn’t be any questions about the invasion.

Dec continued: “And now obviously the news this week’s been dominated by the terrible events in Ukraine so all of our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the situation over there.”

“Absolutely,” Ant continued. “So, of course, there won’t be any questions on that subject.”

As well as Ant and Dec, dozens of other celebrities, including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, have spoken out about the invasion.
