BGT fans claim Simon Cowell ‘knew’ golden buzzer winner was pro after The Voice appearance

Britain’s Got Talent fans were left complaining after the first instalment’s incredible performance from Greatest Showman singer Loren Allred, as many claimed Simon Cowell must have already “known” she was a professional and branded the show a “fix”.

The contestant introduced herself as the singer behind Rebecca Ferguson’s performances in the film.

The character’s most iconic moment takes place when she belts out the hit Never Enough in front of a theatre as Hugh Jackman’s P.T. Barnum sobs in the wings, but it was actually Loren singing the vocals.

But while it’s common knowledge on the internet that Loren was the singer (she is also credited directly in the film), and has even performed the track herself on American network PBS, it was her appearance on The Voice that left many particularly dubious.

Despite the confusion from fans at home, music mogul Simon, 62, was completely blown away and even stood up to clap the 32 year old starlet.

As the entire audience cheered and whooped, Amanda Holden then hit the golden buzzer.

“This is so well-deserved, because seeing someone else sing that song in that movie and not have the recognition of doing one of the most incredible vocals ever, and now, for you to kind of reveal yourself to the world…” Simon told the contestant in shock.

He continued: “It was actually one of the most incredible audition moments I’ve ever experienced. I’m speechless.”

Simon went on to say he was “so happy” for the American singer to finally get her big opportunity, but fans were unimpressed by the scenes.

“Great singer but doing the rounds on American tv shows. Runners up in the voice. So it’s not her first attempt. #BGT,” one person pointed out.

Another fan said: “There are many thousands of people who knew the voice behind the song was you @lorenallred.”

“She’s a brilliant singer, can’t fault that but she’s famous with millions of views on YouTube and has sang on many platforms, she’s not an unknown which was how it was portrayed! #BGT,” a third viewer tweeted.

“Certainly not professional singers who sang in one of bigggest movies in recent years. What a farce,” a fourth said angrily, followed by: “Yeah sorry Simon, you’re a massive fan of The Greatest Showman you already knew that Loren Allred is the credited singer of Never Enough.

“It was never credited to anyone else. #BritainsGotTalent.”

“So Britain has no talent. Simon has arranged for an American professional singer from his fave movie to get a golden buzzer from Amanda and dont tell me otherwise,” a fifth raged. “Makes mockery of whole show.”

“FIX!!! Cowell definitely invited her over…. Decent voice,” another person added, and others called it a “travesty” amazing acts like the Scooter boys might not have the same chances to win.

Others insisted despite Loren’s success in the music industry, she deserved the “recognition” as she was “phenomenal”.

“Yes she was the actual singer in the film but I didn’t know that. I didn’t recognize her,” someone commented. “She didn’t get the recognition she deserved when the movie came out, she was shy, but now she wants to give it a shot & that’s great.

“She deserves her chance as much as anyone else imo. #BGT”
