Britain’s Got Talent ‘struggles to fill venue’ as fans ‘leave auditions’

Britain’s Got Talent is filmed with a live audience at the London Palladium but latest reports suggest the show’s bosses are struggling to fill the seats.

The recordings of the show are said to be long and could be an indicator of why audiences are not taking up the seats.

Earlier this month an audience member claimed that comedian Stuart Holdham, who is the warm-up act for the show, was begging fans to stay till the end of the judging by Simon Cowell, David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden.

An audience member told The Sun: “The recording sessions are quite long, and before the session ended, groups of audience members suddenly started leaving the theatre.

“It was enough that Stuart intervened, saying: ‘Please stay. The show does not work without you.’

“Then at the end of the sitting, staff were handing out free evening tickets to anyone who wanted them outside the rear entrance to the Palladium.

“They have also been upgrading public ballot tickets to ‘guaranteed entry’ via email.

“In the past, tickets – which are allocated on Applause Store – have not guaranteed entry, rather working on a first come, first served basis.”

The show is set to return to ITV this year after being cancelled last year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

But, now the stars have managed to return to the judging panel with head judge Simon, 62, posing alongside Amanda, Alesha and David as they headed to the London Palladium for the return of the BGT auditions.

Comedian David, 50, shared photos from the show’s first round of auditions on his Twitter page earlier this month to mark the occasion.

One image sees Simon and David posing together while stood in front of some grand, red carpeted steps with gold railings inside the theatre.

As he posted the snap of the duo, David wrote: “Reunited. ⁦@SimonCowell @BGT”.

Another snap shows David and Simon, who is said to be downsizing his empire, with female judges Alesha, 43, and Amanda, 50.
