Corrie stars reveal Roy Cropper actor throws cast ‘off guard’ with cheeky pranks


Coronation Street‘s stars revealed all of the behind-the-scenes secrets, bloopers and outtakes on Monday’s Soap Slip Ups at Christmas.

During the special episode, the soap stars revealed that Roy Cropper actor David Neilson throws the cast “off guard” with cheeky pranks during scenes at Roy’s Rolls café.

Steve McDonald actor Simon Gregson joked: “David Neilson, he is a bad man!”

While Nick Tilsley star Ben Price added: “When he’s serving in Roy’s Rolls and the camera’s on you, he’ll hand you something that you’ve not asked for.

“He’ll hand you something and you’re like: ‘I didn’t ask for a cake’ and he’ll go, he’ll make you take the cake. ‘But I haven’t asked for a cake’ and he keeps looking at you, going ‘[take the cake]’.

“But he’s off camera, so I laugh and everyone goes: ‘Well, Roy wouldn’t be laughing!'”

Ben added: “That is how it catches you off guard because you’re not expecting it from David and that makes it all the worse!”

Viewers were left in hysterics over the special episode as they took to Twitter and demanded that it be an hour-long in future rather than the 30 minute format.

A different account put: “Just seen the #Corrie #soapyslipups from tonight, funny to see what goes on behind the scenes.”

Another follower commented: “Well, #SoapySlipUps was an absolute joy a bit of laughter & silliness is always welcomed #Corrie.”

While a different soap watcher added: “Bringing back #SoapySlipUps is one of the best things ITV has done #corrie.”

It comes after Coronation Street fans were left in tears on Saturday’s Christmas Day episode as Roy made an emotional return to the ITV cobbles.

In November, soap watchers were left devastated after Roy left Weatherfield to work as a chef in South America due to feeling guilty over his unwitting role in the death of Natasha Blakeman.

During the special festive episode, Roy made an emotional return so he could spend Christmas Day with Nina Lucas in heartwarming scenes.
