Taking to Twitter earlier this week, Reece, 62, who played Joe McIntyre on the ITV soap, tweeted: “I start #Corrie for real tomorrow. Proper grown-up meeting with the script team over in Manchester.
“First time I’ve been back there in twelve years! Both nervous and excited. Wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Reece added in another tweet: “Just spent a fantastic couple of days at an old stomping ground of mine. Reacquainted myself with many friends and familiar faces… and met a quite few new ones into the bargain. Thank you @itvcorrie for making this old boy so welcome!”

However, before soap fans get their hopes up, Reece isn’t returning as his character Joe, who was killed off in 2010, and is instead directing episodes of the ITV soap.
It comes after Reece announced that he was leaving Emmerdale for a second time in November as he took a break from his directing duties.
The actor played villain Paul Ashdale before his character was killed off last year and the soap star had since been working as a director behind-the-scenes.
Reece previously revealed that he was originally a director on Emmerdale before he was asked whether he would like to play the part of Paul.
Taking to Twitter at the time, the actor revealed that his final episode would be airing on Thursday 11 November for the time being and he was hoping to return to his directing duties in 2022.
The soap star also shared at the time that he had been offered the opportunity to direct some episodes of Coronation Street.
Reece penned: “My final Emmerdale episode (for now) is the first up of tonight’s two. Thanks to those of you who sent me messages & tweets saying how much you’d enjoyed them.
“It’s a learning curve & I’m looking forward to doing more for your entertainment in 2022. Enjoy this evening’s show! x.”

Speaking in a past interview, he said: “I was actually directing on Emmerdale when I was asked, right out of the blue, if I would like to play Paul.
“I’m delighted to announce, therefore, that I shall begin directing once again on the show in a couple of weeks’ time. I’m the cat that got the cream!”
