Fern Britton finding life after Phil Vickery split ‘difficult’: ‘It takes a while’


Fern Britton has revealed that she has struggled to move on after the ending of her marriage to Phil Vickery.

The pair split in 2020 after 20 years together and now the well known 64-year-old TV presenter has spoken out about how hard she is finding it to bounce back after the long relationship.

Fern and TV Chef Phil, 61, met on the set of Ready, Steady, Cook in 1999 and married in 2000 after Fern’s divorce with the father of her eldest three children, Clive Jones was finalised.

The couple then welcomed their daughter Winnie in 2001.

At the time of the split Fern tweeted: “After more than 20 happy years together, Phil and I have decided to go our separate ways. We will always share a great friendship and our lovely children .

“We would appreciate it if our privacy is respected at this time. Thank you for your continued kindness and support.”

Fern now lives in Cornwall with her two daughters and has taken up a number of hobbies that help with mental and physical wellbeing as she works to move forward with life.

At the time of the split, Fern talked about how difficult it had been to move to her new home, especially unpacking boxes- something she “couldn’t face.”

However, friends in Cornwall helped her with laughter after a rough three year period, which saw her lose both of her parents and a family pet.

Fern spoke to Woman & Home magazine last month and opened up about how she is trying to move forward following the split. She said: “People say they bounce back from a long relationship, but it takes a while

“The rebound is difficult. You chuck the pebble in the pond, but the ripples go on for a very long time.”

The author also spoke about how she turned to yoga, meditation and walking as part of her process to help heal and move forward with her life.

Fern has also been open about continuing health issues, she constantly struggles with the effects of arthritis. The debilitating conditions effects her knee and shoulder.

She is currently hoping that a surgeon will be able to help with the issues, however claims that the yoga is helping at the minute.
