Sophie Porley has revealed she was rushed into emergency surgery to remove an ovarian cyst.
The 29 year old, who is best known for portraying Ellie Nightingale on Hollyoaks, took to her Instagram feed to update her 171,00 fans, explaining that she was in the process of freezing her eggs when doctors made the discovery.
Posting a mirror selfie, she shared in the caption: “Thank you for the lovely messages I got after being MIA for 24 hours, I honestly didn’t think anyone would notice,” followed by a red heart emoji.
Sophie, who recently shared a peak inside her gorgeous home, then continued: “I got my blood tests and scan back- my hormones are still not completely ideal but they have improved so after chatting to the doctor we decided to give it a try this month and hope for the best!
“It may just mean that we don’t collect as many eggs as they would hope to.”

Sophie went on to share that medical professionals found a cyst in her ovary, which meant she needed to be operated on.
“I also had a cyst on my ovary so they booked me in to have that operated on yesterday. It all went well, I was just pretty sleepy all day from the sedation,” she shared, assuring fans that she’s fine.
Sophie then opened up on the egg freezing process and the difficulties she’s experienced so far as she shared: “Something that I didn’t enjoy is injecting myself for the first time. They don’t show you in clinic how to do this. You get sent home with everything you need and a YouTube video. I’m not going to lie, I was s***ting myself and there were a few tears.
“I’m finding this quite an isolating experience as everything in the clinic feels quite rushed. They do this all day everyday so I’m sure it’s just another day to them. Whereas it’s overwhelming and new for me. But I’m two days in to doing my own injections and it’s already easier and It really didn’t hurt, it was more the thought of it.”
Describing the “intense” experience, Sophie continued: “So now I will be going to the clinic daily for blood tests so they can tell me exactly how much of each medication I should be injecting each day. And every other day I have a scan. So it’s quite intense.
“I know other clinics don’t require people to go in as often for blood tests, so other people may have a totally different experience to me. This is juts my first hand story .”
Sophie, who quit Hollyoaks after three years back in 2018, promised to keep her thousands of fans updated with how it all goes before sharing that she’s happy to answer questions.
The soap star later took to her Instagram stories to share a snap of herself in blue scrubs as she held a thumbs up.

“Thanks for your messages!” She wrote over this with a red heart emoji. “I was MIA yesterday as I was having an ovarian cyst removed. Dm for outfit details,” followed by a crying with laughter emoji.
Sophie then expanded on what happened with her ovarian cyst as she shared: “My cyst was absolutely fine and absolutely normal and had I not been doing the egg freezing I would never have known I had it. It could have just stayed there and would have gone away by itself apparently. As woman we get them like all the time and they come and they go, most of the time it’s absolutely fine.”
She continued: “We just had to remove mine because it gives me a better chance of getting more eggs for some reason but not sure why.”
Fans were quick to comment as one person wrote: “Good luck with this Soph, It’s hardcore! The injections defo get easier the more you do them. I’ll have everything crossed for the best outcome for you.” with a red heart emoji.
Another shared: “hope you are feeling better soon Sophie sorry to hear about the cyst.”
While a third added: “You’ve got this darling xxx,” alongside a red heart emoji.
