The 44 year old actor has reportedly signed up for a new drama series with Sky in a six-figure deal.
The pub landlord actor’s new fee from Sky is alleged to be “significantly less” than his pay cheque from the BBC, but leaving the soap will enable him to pursue more opportunities outside the broadcaster.
A spokesperson for the soap announced Danny’s upcoming departure as they said: “Danny will be leaving EastEnders when his contract comes to an end later this year.”

Danny joined BBC soap EastEnders in 2013, when his character Mick, wife Linda, played by Kellie Bright and their children moved into The Queen Victoria Pub.
He’s faced a number of dramatic storylines throughout his time on Albert Square including discovering Shirley Carter was his mum rather than his sister and being confronted by his childhood abuser, Katy Lewis, with whom he fathered a child with.

“He’s incredibly grateful to the show and the opportunities it has given him and it wasn’t a decision he took lightly but after playing Mick for nearly nine years he feels it’s time to give the character of Mick a rest.
“He’s not sure how they are going to write him out yet but he’s hoping that they leave the door open for Mick.”
While a source from the soap explained Danny’s character Mick will have some explosive storylines before his departure.
