Oti Mabuse quitting Strictly is ‘best move she’ll make’ says Craig Revel Horwood

Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has reacted to Oti Mabuse’s exit from the BBC show, saying it’s the “best move she’ll ever make.”

Craig, who has been on the programme since it launched in 2004, appeared on ITV’s This Morning shortly after the news broke that professional dancer Oti, 31, had bowed out of the series after seven years.

Hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield asked Craig, 57, how he felt about Oti’s decision, to which he replied: “That’s fantastic. I think this is brilliant news.”

The outspoken judge continued: “She’s becoming a huge star in her own right. I think that is the way to treat the business. There’s only so long you can actually spend in one show.”

He added: “You don’t want to do the same role for seven years. I think it’s the best move that she’ll ever make.”

Craig went on to touch on Dancing on Ice judge Oti’s inevitably bright future, as he admitted he would miss starring alongside her on the show.

He explained: “She’s fantastic as a presenter and I just love her. She’s just brilliant.”

The former The Masked Dancer contestant continued: “I will miss her but then I get to see her on the telly every day so that will be great.”

“And I will miss having the odd dance with her as, of course, she’s [one of] the tallest pros that we have, so I always have to dance with her.”

Craig then quipped with a smile: “She’s always correcting me, darling!”

Craig isn’t the only Strictly star to send Oti his well-wishes following news of her departure.

His fellow judges Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse were also keen to wish Oti all the best, with Motsi telling her sister that the future is bright.
