Rewatch the iconic Britain’s Got Talent moment that’s had 355 million views on YouTube

Britain’s Got Talent star Calum Scott has soared to success following his time on the ITV competition show in 2015.

The singer blew viewers away with his audition seven years ago, as he took to the stage performing a cover of Robyn’s smash hit, Dancing On My Own.

His incredible performance took the judges by storm, with head judge Simon Cowell pressing the golden buzzer and sending Calum straight through to the live semi-finals.

Now, the 33 year old’s iconic audition has become the most watched Britain’s Got Talent video on YouTube, reaching an incredible 355 million views.

Calum, who was a recruitment officer at the time of his audition, was visibly shaking as he sang a slower version of Dancing On My Own.

However, it was clear he needn’t have been so nervous after getting a standing ovation from the audience and all four judges after wowing them with his incredible voice.

Despite placing sixth in the competition, Calum has since gone on to big things.

The year after his audition, Calum released his version of Robyn’s song which peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart and became Britain’s best-selling single of 2016.

He later signed with Capitol Records and released his debut album Only Human in 2018, which reached number four on the UK album charts.

In September 2020, Calum partnered with American watch company Bulova to develop a music documentary series titles Minutes with Calum.

This explores the creative process behind his second album Bridges, which will be released on Friday, June 17.

In June 2021, Calum released the single Biblical, the first song from his upcoming album. He has since released three other songs from the album.

Currently, Calum is getting ready to embark on an international tour, which will begin in July and will see him play venues such as The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, The Danforth Music Hall in Toronto and Metropol in Berlin.

The talented star has recently admitted that he “hated” Simon Cowell during his audition.

Despite his initial joy of being given the golden buzzer, Calum couldn’t help but feel pain, having witnessed his sister be rejected by judges moments before.

Calum’s sister, Jade, sang a cover of U2’s With Or Without You but failed to impress any of the judges.

Calum told Daily Star: “If that audition ever comes on, it’s almost like I’m seeing it for the first time every time I watch it because it was already an emotional situation with my sister not getting through, then me going on stage directly after.

“You know, hating Simon for what he did to my sister but really desperately wanting to impress him with my own audition, it was a real mixture of emotions.”

He added: “It’s bizarre for me to think from that audition and I’ve had an album, I’m about to release a second and toured the world and it’s just from that one point in time, my life has changed.”

Calum, who came out as gay in 2016, said: “When I was growing up, there Elton John, and, you know, George Michael, Boy George and these kinds of gay icons that were way out of my relatability there was no way I could relate to a superstar like Elton John.

“We’re doing so much better than we ever have done in terms of visibility, having that kind of presence.

“I think having it in pop music as well just continues that really important conversation for younger people and older people to be more confident and feel happy with themselves.”
