Lorraine said: “I’m very sorry that the two of you are no longer together as a couple, but you’re very much united and together in The Azaylia Foundation and about saving lives in the future. About honouring your little girl.”
Safiyya teared up as she spoke about the charity work she does with Ashley and said she felt “emotional” before saying: “We will always honour Azaylia and mine and Ashley’s friendship is so strong together, we’re really good.”

Ashley and Safiyya broke up just weeks before the first anniversary of Azaylia’s tragic death. The former footballer and Ex On The Beach star released a touching statement about their split on Instagram.
He wrote: “After a devastating and heartbreaking year, Safiyya and I decided to separate a few months ago. This was an incredibly though decision which we needed to keep to ourselves for some time to give us the opportunity to figure out our own journey privately.
“The past few months have demonstrated that we remain the closest of friends, spending time together everyday, and that we will love, care and support each other forever.”
Safiyya echoed this as she opened up about her new book, Loving and Losing You, Azaylia: My Inspirational Daughter and Our Unbreakable Bond.
She explained that she wants it to be a “hopeful” read and that she and Ashley are “working so hard with The Azaylia Foundation to change the system.”
The 33-year-old continued: “Childhood cancer has been underfunded for far too long and we are working hard to advance early diagnosis and to bring early treatments to the UK. It makes such a big difference.”

Safiyya looked back on when the couple climbed Sacafell Pike for a charity fundraiser, saying: “It was so emotional when we got to the top because I felt like myself and Ashley were with Azaylia.”
She also spoke about Ashley’s 100-mile run. She said: “It was so tough but I think always having Azaylia as our inspiration – she’s our hero.
“We use our platform for such a purpose and turning our pain into positivity is what we’ll continue to do for all of these children.”
Azaylia was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of leukaemia at just eight weeks old. After fighting ferociously, she passed away in April 2021 at just eight months old.
Despite her short time on earth, Azaylia captured hearts across the globe and her story helped to raise over £1 million. Safiyya and Ashley are now dedicated to continuing that work through The Azaylia Foundation.
