Boris and Carrie Johnson have revealed their baby daughter’s special name in a touching Instagram post.
The Prime Minister and his wife, who also share son Wilfred together, welcomed their second child on Thursday 9 December.
The news was announced with an official statement, which read: “The prime minister and Mrs Johnson are delighted to announce the birth of a healthy baby girl at a London hospital earlier today.
“Both mother and daughter are doing very well. The couple would like to thank the brilliant NHS maternity team for all their care and support.”

Sharing an adorable shot of son Wilfred looking at his new baby sister, Carrie explained the heartfelt meaning behind Romy’s name.
Romy was selected in a nod to Carrie’s aunt, who is named Rosemary.
Iris, Romy’s first middle name, means rainbow in Greek.
Their daughter’s second middle name, Charlotte, has be chosen in honour of Boris’ late mother, who passed away earlier this year.
Carrie explained her daughter’s full name as she captioned the sweet Instagram snap: “Romy after my aunt, Rosemary. Iris from the Greek, meaning rainbow.
“Charlotte after Boris’ late mum whom we miss so much.
“Wilf has been stroking Romy’s hair, giving big kisses and playing with his matchbox cars right next to her crib, just in case she feels like joining in too.
“Thank you so much to the amazing maternity staff at UCLH for looking after us so well. We are so, so grateful.”
Boris and Carrie’s son Wilfred was also named after family members, and his full name is Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson.
The one year old is named after Boris’ paternal grandfather Wilfred who was murdered during the Turkish War of Independence.
His first middle name, Lawrie, is the name of Carrie’s grandfather, while Nicholas is a tribute to the two doctors, Dr Nick Price and Dr Nick Hart, who saved Boris’ life after he contracted coronavirus in 2020.
Boris and Carrie’s second child comes after the couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony on 29 May 2021.
