Priyanka Chopra & Nick Jonas
Celebrity couple Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas confirmed that they’d welcomed their first child together on Friday 21 January.
Actress Priyanka, 39, and musician Nick, 29, took to Instagram to share a joint statement announcing the birth of their baby, who had been born via surrogate.
The couple, who tied the knot back in 2018, had kept the pregnancy entirely private up until the announcement.
The new parents wrote: “We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much.”
According to the Daily Mail, Nick and Priyanka have welcomed a baby girl, who arrived at 27 weeks at a hospital in Southern California outside Los Angeles.
It’s also believed that the couple contacted an agency to explore their options, eventually deciding on a surrogate based in Southern California.
A source told Mail Online: “Priyanka doesn’t have any fertility issues preventing her from having a baby, but she is 39 now so it’s not getting any easier.
“Their busy work schedules also mean that it’s difficult for them to physically be together to conceive when she is ovulating, so some time ago they went down the surrogacy route.
“This is the woman’s fifth surrogacy. They met her and really liked her. The baby had been due in April but the surrogate ended up giving birth on Sunday, so she was very premature.”
Kim Kardashian & Kanye West
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West share four children together, two of whom where welcomed via surrogacy.
Skims founder Kim, 41, suffered difficult pregnancies with both her daughter North, eight, and son Saint, six.
She experienced pre-eclampsia during her first pregnancy, which forced her to deliver at 34 weeks.
With both pregnancies, Kim suffered placenta accreta after giving birth, prompting her to undergo surgery to remove the placenta and scar tissue.
After Kim gave birth to Saint in 2015, doctors advised her not become pregnant again due to health concerns.
The former couple still wanted to expand their brood however, and decided to use a surrogate to welcome two more children.
Their daughter Chicago was born in January 2018, and the following year they welcomed their fourth child, a son named Psalm.

Sarah tends to keep her private life out of the limelight, but did open up about her and Matthew’s choice to use a surrogate in 2011.
She told US Vogue: “We tried and tried and tried and tried to get pregnant. It just was not to be, I would give birth…if I could.”
The actress also revealed that they didn’t want their son James to be an only child.

Olympic diver Tom Daley and his husband Dustin Lance Black welcomed a son, Robert Ray Black-Daley, via surrogate in 2018.
The loved up couple, who tied the knot back in 2017, announced that they were expecting their first child in a joint statement shared to Instagram, and continued to be open and honest about their experiences as a same-sex couple using a surrogate.
Tom, 27, and Dustin, 47, went through the entire process over in the US, and don’t know which of them is Robert’s biological father and have chosen not to know.
Speaking to The Independent shortly after Robert’s birth, Dustin gushed: “He’s a great baby. I think we got a starter baby, I think we got the best baby on the planet.”
Cameron Diaz & Benji Madden
Actress Cameron Diaz, 49, welcomed her first child with husband Benji Madden, 42, in 2019.

“She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family.
“While we are overjoyed to share this news, we also feel a strong instinct to protect our little one’s privacy.
“So we won’t be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact that she is really really cute!! Some would even say RAD.”
The couple are believed to have welcomed their daughter via surrogate, while neither have publicly confirmed the reports.
