Strictly’s Giovanni ‘changed’ by partner Rose as she’s ‘first woman not taken in by his charms’

Rose Ayling-Ellis is Strictly Come Dancing‘s first deaf contestant and she and dance partner Giovanni Pernice have been wowing fans in recent weeks.

The fan favourite couple has been climbing the leaderboard on the BBC One show as the weeks go by and they blew the audience away with their emotional performance on Saturday 13 November’s show titled the Sound of Silence.

A duet that celebrated the deaf community and gave viewers a glimpse into the life of Rose, halfway through the routine, the music stopped, and the couple danced in silence.

It’s now been reported that Rose has had a big impact on Giovanni and he has “changed” since meeting the actress.

A source told Heat magazine: “Giovanni has really changed since meeting Rose, and for the better.

“He’s seen the obstacles Rose has had to face in life, and he’s just in awe of her.

“She’s one of the first women who he’s met who’s not taken in by his charms, and she isn’t afraid to challenge him or take the p**s out of him, which he loves.”

A representative for Giovanni told The Mirror: “Gio has been publicly so supportive of Rose, and what she’s taught him, and the entire British public about representation and the deaf community.

“Gio has always been a wonderful person and dancer, and is of course immensely enjoying this series with Rose.”

OK! has contacted Giovanni’s representative for comment.

After their moving silent performance, an emotional Anton Du Beke said to the pair: “That’s the greatest thing I’ve ever seen on the show. Congratulations.”

Also clearly moved by the piece Motsi Mabuse said: “Thank you, it was such a beautiful moment to include us in your world and for us to actually understand how important and how aware we all could be of each other generally everywhere. This was so special.”

Audience members have seen their fair share of Strictly romances across the seasons, but Rose is happily dating her boyfriend of seven years, Samuel Arnold.

Samuel is also deaf, and despite the couple keeping their lives pretty private, he can often be seen at the BBC studios supporting his girlfriend on the show.

He said online: “I still find you the most funniest, beautiful and super cool girlfriend I ever asked for.

“You are a true bada** girlfriend.”

The jet setting pair have taken trips all over the globe together, from the Amazon to the desert of Huacachina.

Giovanni, meanwhile, is single and just recently came out of a relationship with Love Island’s Maura Higgins, while he has dated Ashley Roberts and Georgia May Foote in the past.

Also making waves as an actress, Rose, 26, was the first deaf actress to appear on EastEnders.

She joined the soap in May 2020 as Frankie Lewis, the daughter of Danny Dyer’s Mick Carter.

Frankie was seen leaving Albert Square in the back of a Walford Taxi at the beginning of November, but fans shouldn’t worry.

Talking to the Metro, Rose said: “Normally, EastEnders makes you work at the same time as doing Strictly, but EastEnders gave me time off, so I can just focus on Strictly completely.”
